SWRO spare parts for Cyprus, Malta, Greece and Italy

Mediterranean islands depend on seawater desalination for drinking water, and a failed pump or pressure exchanger cannot wait weeks. We supply SWRO spare parts from stock in Spain and elsewhere in the EU, inside the EU customs union.

How much these countries depend on desalination

CountryDesalination today
CyprusDesalination supplies roughly 80% of the island's water needs, about 245,000 m³/day in total. Permanent plants at Dhekelia, Larnaca, Vasiliko, Episkopi and Paphos, plus mobile units such as Kissonerga and Moni.
MaltaThe Water Services Corporation runs four reverse osmosis plants: Pembroke, Ċirkewwa, Għar Lapsi and Ħondoq ir-Rummien (Gozo). In 2022 they produced 22.8 million m³, 64% of Malta's drinking water.
Greece and ItalyIslands without enough groundwater rely on small and mid-size SWRO plants, many of them containerised. A single failed pump or pressure exchanger can cut an island's supply.

Equipment documented at Cyprus plants

Energy Recovery stated in 2010 that its PX devices were implemented or contracted at five Cyprus plants: Dhekelia, Moni, Larnaca, Paphos and Episkopi. Later that year it announced PX-260 devices for the Limassol plant, built by Nirosoft, as the sixth. The PX-260 belongs to the 65 series, which we continue to quote: see ERI PX spare parts.

Why ship from Spain

  • No customs clearance: goods shipped from Spain to Cyprus, Malta, Greece or Italy stay inside the EU customs union.
  • Stock close by: Spain holds around 60% of the EU's desalination capacity, so its distributors carry SWRO spares.
  • Same working hours: Spain is one hour behind Cyprus and Greece and on the same time as Malta and Italy.

What we supply

What we need to quote

  1. Equipment, model and serial number from the nameplate — a photo is enough.
  2. Part number, if you have it.
  3. Quantity and delivery address (island and town).
  4. Whether the plant is down. If it is, say so on the form and we handle it first.

  • Manufacturer's certificate of origin where the manufacturer issues one.
  • Photos of the parts and their labels before dispatch.
