How the HPB works
The HPB uses brine pressure to drive a turbine, which drives an impeller that raises the pressure of the feed water. The main high-pressure pump then needs less discharge pressure. When an HPB loses performance, the main pump has to make up the difference, and it shows in power consumption before anywhere else.
