Spare parts for hotel and resort desalination plants
A resort that makes its own water usually runs one or two small SWRO trains. When a pump or an energy recovery device fails, there is no second source of water. We supply the spares these plants use most: high-pressure pump kits, energy recovery spares and membrane sets.

How common resort plants are
In Los Cabos, Mexico, the president of the local hotel association said in 2022 that "90 percent of the hotels affiliated to his organization have their own desal plants". The same pattern holds on islands and dry coasts elsewhere: the Maldives, the Caribbean and the Red Sea.

What these plants are built with
Manufacturers' case studies show what small resort plants typically contain.
| Plant | Capacity | Equipment named by the manufacturer |
|---|---|---|
| CROSSROADS Maldives (commissioned 2019) | 2,000 m³/day in four trains | 4 Danfoss APP 22 pumps and 4 iSave 40 energy recovery devices |
| Luxury hotel, Jamaica (2020) | 1,800 m³/day in two trains | 2 Danfoss APP 38 pumps and 2 iSave 50 energy recovery devices |
| Resort supply plant, Hurghada, Egypt (2015) | 1,800 m³/day | 3 Danfoss APP 26 pumps and 3 iSave 40 energy recovery devices |
| Hilton Hurghada Plaza, Egypt (retrofit 2019) | 1,000 m³/day | 1 Energy Recovery PX-Q300 |
| Two plants in Hurghada, Egypt (retrofit 2019) | 600 m³/day each | 2 Energy Recovery PX-260, replacing Pelton wheels |

In the Hurghada retrofit, the operator reported that energy use fell from 6 kWh/m³ to 2.7 kWh/m³ after the Pelton wheels were replaced.
What we supply for small trains
- Danfoss APP high-pressure pumps: service kits and wear parts, and iSave energy recovery spares.
- Energy Recovery PX units, cartridges and seal kits; ERI turbocharger rebuild kits.
- FilmTec and Toray seawater membranes, 8-inch and 4-inch, with interconnectors and seals.
- Codeline pressure vessel head seals and end-cap parts.
- FEDCO turbocharger and pump spares.
Spares worth holding on site
| Equipment | Spare to hold | Why |
|---|---|---|
| High-pressure pump | One service kit per pump model | The pump is the single point of failure on a one-train plant |
| Energy recovery device | Seal kit; a spare cartridge or unit on larger plants | Without it the train runs at much higher energy use, or not at all |
| Membranes | A few elements of the installed model, kept in preservative | Lets you replace damaged lead or tail elements without waiting for a shipment |
| Pressure vessels | Head seals and port seals | Seals should be replaced each time a head is opened |
What we need to quote

Frequently asked questions
Do you supply parts for small containerised desalination plants?
Yes. We quote for plants of any size, including single-train containerised units in hotels and resorts.
Which spares should a resort keep on the island?
At minimum one service kit for each high-pressure pump model, a seal kit for the energy recovery device, head seals for the pressure vessels and a few membrane elements of the installed model.
Can you identify a part from a photo?
Usually yes. A clear photo of the nameplate or element label is enough for us to check the model against the manufacturer's data sheet.
Do you supply 4-inch seawater membranes?
Yes, FilmTec and Toray seawater elements in 4-inch and 8-inch sizes.
