What R, GR, SR, ES and G2 mean
Within one size, SR has the lowest flow and R the highest of the standard elements, with GR in between. ES has the highest flow, with lower salt rejection (99.80% stabilised) and boron rejection (89%). G2 marks the second generation, with a minimum salt rejection of 99.75% against 99.7%. The data sheet also lists first-generation GR and SR elements; we quote those on request.
Who makes them
LG seawater elements were developed by LG Chem's water solutions business. In June 2025 LG Chem agreed to sell that business, which makes reverse osmosis membranes for seawater desalination, to Glenwood Private Equity. The elements are sold as LG Water Solutions. When a model has been replaced by a newer one, the quotation says so.

What fails
Replacement causes are the same as for any seawater membrane: fouling in lead elements, scaling in tail elements, chlorine oxidation, and leaks at interconnectors or O-rings. The full symptom table is on the FilmTec membranes page.
